There’s no question that 2020 was a tragic year for global health. The previously unknown virus, SARS-COV-2, rapidly spread across the world at the beginning of last year, and within months, COVID-19 became one of the biggest global killers we’d ever seen.

As we began to learn more about the disease, it was discovered that individuals with noncommunicable diseases (NCDs) were significantly more vulnerable to it. This has since prompted many to question whether there is enough access to screening, early diagnosis and treatment for these common (and extremely dangerous) types of illnesses, especially during these troubling times.
